Christmas Mass Munich 2023 - Christmas Mass is the Holy Mass celebrated on the night of December 24th to 25th. It traditionally begins at midnight, but in most Munich parishes it starts at 10 pm. Although many people otherwise rarely attend a church service, Christmas mass is a fixed Christmas ritual for most families and the churches are particularly full on Christmas Eve.
In the Frauendom with the Archbishop
The impressive Liebfrauendom is the landmark of the Bavarian capital. Inside, it is divided by eleven pairs of columns. The ceiling of the cathedral is adorned with a late Gothic star vault. Christmas is rung in here at 3 pm on Christmas Eve. Then the ten mighty bells in the two towers chime for 20 minutes. The actual Christmas mass with Archbishop Reinhard Cardinal Marx begins at 10 pm. In the Theatinerkirche with organ and trumpet
The church of St. Kajetan on Odeonsplatz is better known as the Theatinerkirche. It was built in the late Italian Baroque style. The interior is rather plain and white. The Theatinerkirche also has massive columns and an impressive dome at a height of 70 meters. In addition, the high altar is lined with larger-than-life statues. The Christmas mass begins at 8 pm. Christmas Mass Munich in St. Maximilian

In Alter Peter with solemn laying of the crib
The Gothic St. Peter's Church is located near Marienplatz. It is affectionately known as Alter Peter because it is the oldest church in Munich. St. Peter's is one of Munich's landmarks. In the mighty St. Paul's Church
The neo-Gothic St. Paul's Church on Theresienwiese is one of the tallest and mightiest churches in the city. It was actually designed by Georg von Hauberrisser. He had also designed the new town hall from 1867 to 1909. . Although the interior looks rather plain, it is still impressively designed. The Christmas mass begins at 10 pm.
