Description
The Brandenburg Gate is Berlin's ultimate landmark and a symbol of Germany. King Frederick William II had it built in 1789 as the end of the boulevard Unter den Linden. The neo-classical gate is the only surviving city gate in Berlin. It was badly damaged during the Second World War, but was rebuilt in 1956. After the war, the gate divided the city into East and West until 1989. To this day, many important major events take place on its forecourt. The Brandenburg Gate bracelet is made in southern Germany. The symbol is rhodium-plated and the fabric ribbon is hand-knotted.
